Micro Expressions | PEi Wiki

In this short video, Dr. Paul Ekman explains the two key types of micro-expressions – Conscious suppression and Unconscious Repression, and what you can do to find out why someone may have shown them.

Micro Expressions are very brief displays of emotion that flash across our face, often when we are desperately trying to conceal our true feelings. Due to the rapid onset of emotions, it is almost impossible to prevent them from appearing on our faces – even when we really want to hide our feelings from others.

As emotions happen to us, often without us being consciously aware (initially, at least), it is almost impossible to control them. This includes the signals they give of such as facial expressions.
